My 15th Tangle: Leafheart & Found Poetry

Oh, what a crazy Summer!
Well, I guess we cannot talk about Summer this month, because the weather looks like November. Rainy and cold days followed by one hot day. Apart from the huge humidity I'm happy with it.
Now that my family has gone back to Canary Islands I can pick up my pencils again. :)

Yesterday I created my 15th tangle!
I called it LEAFHEART.

This year I joined an Italian Found Poetry Swap Group on FB.

From Wikipedia:
Found poetry is a type of poetry created by taking words, phrases, and sometimes whole passages from other sources and reframing them as poetry by making changes in spacing and lines, or by adding or deleting text, thus imparting new meaning. The resulting poem can be defined as either treated: changed in a profound and systematic manner; or untreated: virtually unchanged from the order, syntax and meaning of the original.

I like both kinds of Found Poetry and usually combine it with doodling and painting.
As I am still waiting for receiving my swap cards, I'm showing you some other pieces I made on Friday.
First I painted a background on an A3 sheet.
Then filled it with drawings, collaged papers, stamps and doodles and cut it into postcard sized cards.
I finished them them with some words cut from a book (I used Oscar Wilde's "The Portrait of Dorian Gray"), creating a completely new meaning. :)

Have a great week!

Waiting for Halloween & Other Stuff

Hellooo!
I am soooo proud of my new blog banner!!! :)
What do you think?

As you know Summer is not my favorite season.
While sitting on the sofa, trying to breathe and not to sweat, I usually focus on the coming of Fall. :)
This month my social check will expire and there are no jobs on sight... it's very disheartening. Luckily, my hubby has been working a few weeks during the last 3 months and we could pay our bills and his heart checkups. On Thursday he'll know wether he has to undergo cardioversion or not. Cross your fingers!

Going back to my longing for Fall, I have drawn a sugar skull.

In my previous post I wrote about a handmade gift for my Daddy's birthday.
Now I can show it to you!
I have made a card and filled it with some mandala drawings and a card with wishes from all of our family.
The actual gift was a Smartphone (because mine is a technologic Dad... ehehe). So we made a cardboard gift box and decorated it.
And here they are!

As staying in front of my PC is almost impossible due to the hot weather, I have picked up my Doodle Moleskine and made some new pages.

Have a great week!

New Tutorial for Scrappin' Sisters and Daddy's Birthday

Helloooo!
I have finally started massage therapy for my backache. There's a massive contracture caused by years of bad posture due to chronic pain, due to Endometriosis etc. etc...(it's a long chain). Luckily I have a friend who is an Ayurvedic therapist and she is treating me at a very special price. :)

This month was my turn for a TUTORIAL for SCRAPPIN' SISTERS.
The subject is Create Your Art Journal. It shows you how I make my art journals from scratch.
I wrote it in both Italian and English.
Enjoy!

Today is my Dad's 80th Birthday!
My sister and nephews have come from Canary Islands and the whole family will be reunited tonight for a party.
I have drawn some mandalas to use for his birthday card.
But I cannot write more now, because he reads my blog and I don't want to spoil his surprise. :)

Being forced to lay down on the sofa for a week, I enjoyed drawing and coloring some bigger ones, too.

More to come! :)
Have a great week!

Going back to Mandalas: a Review

This last week has been a bit tough.
Migraines, backpains and bad news have been my companions almost daily.
As I could not sit down on my chair, I spent most of my time on the sofa jotting down notes and playing with my pens. In a couple of days I made a new Mandala.
I have always drawn my Mandalas using round shapes and then adding lines and doodles by eye.

This time, instead, I used my friend (and co-migraine sufferer) Cindy's
Cindy is the owner of THE RAINBOW ELEPHANT website and LINE WEAVING COMMUNITY
In her blog you can find a number of FREE Mandala Templates for you to download and doodle, as long as patterns and tips about doodling.
Cindy's DIY Template System is a set of half circle grids that help you draw dozens of different mandalas.
You only have to download, print and cut the shapes, read the easy instructions and you're ready to go! You can create small and large templates and combine the shapes in many ways.

This is my first Mandala done with Cindy's Template System.
Have a great weekend!
